Hi this is Bre, with Bre Sessions photography. I wanted to share a few helpful tips on how to find the perfect location for your engagement session. As a photographer I always like for couples to help select there own engagement session location. I find it helps make the photos more personal, and helps you the clients to feel more comfortable when they have a connection to the space.
Select a beautiful and meaningful location
There are no shortage of awesome locations to photograph in Georgia, but when deciding on a spot, consider what places hold special meaning for you and your fiance. I have had couples go back to the bar where they first met, or the place where he proposed, a favorite date spot or an activity you love to do together.
Select a Spot the reflects your love story and your personalities
What type of surroundings do you guys love?
Are you nature lovers, who enjoy hiking, and all things outdoors? Then a park, or campgrounds, or maybe a mountain hike in North Georgia would all be good options.
Do you love the city, and getting dressed up for a night on the town? Then get dressed up, and visit your favorite restaurant for drinks (as long as you ask, and go when it’s not too busy most places are fine with this). You could also take pictures where you can see a favorite part of town, in Atlanta it’s often a skyline view, but you can get creative and show off whatever area of the city means the most to you.
Are you college sweethearts? Meet up on campus and visit favorite spots where your relationship unfolded. If you are book lovers, a library shoot on campus can also be a fun idea.
What activities do you love to do together that might look cute in pictures? Think of planning your engagement session like you are planning a date night, you could visit a local winery for a wine tasting. If you play a sport together, or are huge baseball, or football fans, consider bringing along your favorite jersey, or something in your teams colors. You can even look into doing shoot at the stadium. I have had clients do pictures at the Braves Stadium, as well as on college football fields (You do have to ask permission and sometimes pay a fee depending on the place, so be sure to look into that before showing up).
Are you homebodies? If you guys already have a place together, and love hanging out and cooking together, or spending time out on your deck grilling out and having a beer, then consider doing a lifestyle engagement session at the house. I recently saw a super cute shoot at a couples home, and it was so personal and really fit their style. I think it would be fun to try this look, so let me know if you like this idea, i would love to help shoot it!
